Ongoing
Helium and nothing else. A 200 cubic foot tank costs about $300 from a local welding-gas supplier, roughly $1.50 per cubic foot.
A blimp fills for around $255 from empty, then costs about $2.50 a day in top-offs. A sphere fills for around $130 and one tank runs it about two months.
There is no subscription, no monthly fee and nothing to renew.
If nobody has time to run it
This is the honest failure mode. Setup takes about ten minutes after the first time, but if nobody owns that ten minutes the balloon stops going up.
In greater Phoenix and Tucson we solve it by running it for you: balloon, helium, installation, weather monitoring and removal. Balloon service is $247.25 a day, blimp service $297.25 a day. Billed weekly, no contract, no minimum, and no charge when weather grounds it.
Outside that area we sell rather than service, because our crew has to physically reach the site.
Is there a monthly cost?
No. You buy it once. Helium is the only ongoing expense.
Do I need a permit?
Not from the FAA below 150 feet, and we fly at 120. Check your city’s sign rules.
What happens in bad weather?
Over 25 mph forecast, bring it in. That is the whole maintenance routine.
How long does it last?
Customers are still flying the same balloon after fourteen years.
What if it wears out?
Send it back for a replacement. Weather loss is not covered.
